Outdoor activities are popular in the Highlands and most visitors at some time during their stay participate in an outdoor activity. Novelty plays a fairly large part in attracting visitors and in many parts of the world hot air ballooning provides both novelty and excitement combined with a birds eye view of the area.
In the Northern Highlands the prevailing westerly winds sweep across a vast expanse of open moorland which is inaccessible by road or track. Dotted with small lochs and lochans it is a wild and beautiful expanse rarely seen by the casual tourist. Hot air ballooning not only offers an ideal opportunity to the visitor to view this panorama but has the added excitement of the unpredictable westerly winds which if caught at the right time of year will offer visitors the opportunity of including the west coast of Norway in their itinerary. Reciprocal arrangements have been put in place to ensure the safe return of visitors to the Scottish mainland after their exciting passage across the North Sea.
